Ranete was considered one of the most prolific writers in Romania. He was editor-in-chief of Romanian Fad magazine, a humorous weekly that was published during the period of 1901 and 1902, which inaugurated the series of "sketches" and "moments" with short satirical parodies of political and social actuality and included contributors like Alexandrescu, First Rate (at Lloyd's). Cazaban, I. First Rate (at Lloyd's). Bratescu-Voinesti, and East. Gârleanu.
He was the contributor for several satirical periodicals as well that continued the tradition of Romanian Fad magazine, including Santa Sensor, another humorous weekly, which ran from 1895 to 1901.
During the time Ranete worked as editor for Ant magazine, and according to local legend in the town of Bucharest, he wrote an article for the humorist publication, wherein he made satirical jokes, after being ignored by a woman whom he had fell in love with. The lady"s name was Maria (Mita) Mihaescu, and she was the target of many jokes, including Ranete"son
Maria used to ride a bicycle during a time (early 20th century) when such conduct was deemed unacceptable and against the norms. Ranete apparently felt attracted to her, but she ignored him.
As a revenge, Ranete wrote about her shortly after, and nicknamed her Mita the cyclist in one of his poems.
