Career
He played all six matches and scored six goals. He played all five matches and scored 13 goals. He played in three World Championships, winning two gold medals and one bronze.
A pivot, he played for Dinamo Bucharest.
With 1054, or, according to other sources, 1336 goals scored for the men"s national team, he was, as of April 2014, the second most scoring player. After retiring from active play, he became a coach, training the Romanian club Dinamo (1980-1993) and the German club South Carolina Magdeburg (2006).
He was the father of handball player and trainer Robert Licu.
