Career
Born in Braga, Artur Jorge"s football career was mainly spent in his home town. He started his career in 1991 with Arsenal Braga at the age of 19. In his first full season he managed five goals in thirty appearances from defence.
His fantastic displays earned interest from several clubs from which in the summer of 1992 he signed for Braga of the Primeira Liga.
As he started out with Braga he was primarily used as a substitute. Following a couple of seasons being used as a substitute, he would go on to play more regularly and became a first team regular within Braga"s team
His most notable moment as a player was leading Braga to the Taça de Portugal final in 1998 where Braga would lose to Football Club Porto, 1–3. He would go on to play for Braga until the 2003-2004 season.
He ended his twelve-year spell with Braga in the summer of 2004 where he would leave for newly promoted Penafiel.
In the 2004-2005 season, he would play very little in Penafiel"s mid table finish. Following the end of the 2004-2005 season, he announced his retirement from playing football. Four years following his retirement from his playing career, he would begin his managerial career with Famalicão.
In his first managerial season he helped Famalicão finish third in the play-offs one place off an automatic promotion place.
His first managerial season proved to be successfully. Following one season with Famalicão, he would move on to manage Braga U19 in the summer of 2010.
His two years with the Braga U19 saw him finish second and third in the National Juniors League North Division. In early 2012, it was announced that Braga"s B team would be revived and compete in the Segunda Liga as of the 2012-2013 season.
Shortly after this announcement, Artur Jorge was named as the manager for the new season.
Following four months in charge, Artur Jorge resigned as manager due to a poor start to the season. In July 2013, Jorge was appointed manager of Tirsense.
