Sturrock first played for the Melbourne Ice of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) in the 2004 AIHL season. In his debut season Sturrock played in only 13 games of the season, recording two goals. The following season Sturrock dropped out of the main team, playing in only seven games during the season.
Sturrock regained his position with the main team going into the 2008 season where he played in 25 games, scoring 11 points and played in his first playoff game of his career.
In February 2014 Sturrock was announced as part of the Ice"s team for the 2014 AIHL season. Sturrock was first selected to represent Australia in 2014 where he joined the national senior team to compete in the 2014 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Belgrade, Serbia.
Australia finished in fourth place while Sturrock failed to record a point in his five games and finished with a plus-minus of –5. Sturrock was born on 28 December 1980.
