Career
Nelson plays as a winger and is 1.78 m tall. Born in Amsterdam, he played in the youth teams of Arizona Alkmaar. Nelson made his debut for Arizona in the Dutch Eredivisie on 30 September 2007 against Heracles Almelo.
He spent the 2009-2010 season on loan at Royal Bank of Canada Roosendaal.
The loan contract had an option to purchase the player, an option which Royal Bank of Canada took advantage of on 11 June 2009. Nelson was released by Royal Bank of Canada on 11 January 2010.
After six months without a club, he signed for CSKA Sofia in June 2010. In January 2012, he signed for Ukrainian club Metalurh Donetsk on a three-and-a-half year contract.
On 11 March 2012, Nelson made his official debut for the team from Donetsk, playing the first 74 minutes of the 1:1 home draw with Metalist Kharkiv in a Ukrainian Premier League match.
Botev Plovdiv
Several months after the bankruptcy of Football Club Metalurh Donetsk, on 9 October 2015, Gregory Nelson returned to Bulgaria and signed a contract until the end of the season with Botev Plovdiv. On 23 October Gregory Nelson scored the winning goal against Pirin Blagoevgrad in his debut for Botev Plovdiv. On 29 November Nelson scored twice during the 4:2 away defeat from Litex Lovech.
He was selected for the man of the match, despite his team"s loss.
On 6 March 2016, Nelson scored a controversial goal during the 1-1 away draw with Beroe Stara Zagora. He was chosen for man of the match.
In an interview immediately after the game, he admitted that the ball hit his hand before he scored the goal.
