Houbraken took his information from Cornelis de Bie"s Het Gulden Cabinet, p 412. According to De Bie he was still alive and living in Antwerp at the time of publication (1661). Number known works survive - all portraits previously attributed to him have since been reattributed to others
The later biographer Jacob Campo Weyerman claimed he saw a few of his paintings in Breda and could vouch for their close similarity to Van Dijck.
