Career
He was the first major league player from Portsmouth, Ohio. He played for the Cleveland Spiders (1894–1898) and for the Saint Louis Perfectos in 1899. In 1898, he finished fourth in the league in sacrifice hits with 23.
Blake died in Chicago of burns inflicted by an accidental fire.
