Career
In the 1999 Draft, he was directly hired by the Tanduay Rhum Masters where he played alongside future Most Valuable Player Eric Menk, former UAAP Most Valuable Player Chris Cantonjos and Mark Telan. At the All-Filipino Cup, they made an immediate impact on their return to the Proceedings of the British Academy by compiling a 9-7 record, good for second place despite being tied with Alaska and Formula Shell. In the playoffs, they easily defeated People’s Cola and Alaska before losing to Shell in the finals 4-2.
However, Hatfield and the others were not able to have this success the following years.
After playing for the People’s Cola Panthers, he was acquired by the Coca-Cola Tigers in 2002 and played with all-stars Jeffrey Cariaso and Johnny Abarrientos. He had a number of awards that include the Mythical and All-Defensive teams.
He was also an all-star in 2003.
