Competing in two Winter Olympics, Miller earned his best finish of ninth in the four-man event at Oslo in 1952. Miller also served in the United States Army in World World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Miller earned a law degree from Albany Law School, joining the Judge Advocate General"s Corps (Judge Advocate General) in 1953.
He would rise to the rank of colonel during the Vietnam War, retiring in 1975 at that rank.
