Hubertus Prinz von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha is the eldest son of Prince Ernst Leopold of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and his first wife Ingeborg Henig.
Background
Hubertus was born at Herrenberg, West Germany. His paternal grandparents were Johann Leopold, Hereditary Prince of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, the eldest son of Charles Edward, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (only son of Prince Leopold, ), and his wife, Baroness Feodora von der Horst.
Career
Hubertus has five half-siblings: Princess Viktoria, Prince Ernst-Josias, Prince Charles Edward, Prince Ferdinand-Christian and Princess Alice-Sybilla. The abdication was a result of the German Revolution. Although not having any rights of succession to the ducal throne of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, he has the right to petition for the restoration of the Dukedom of Albany and other British peerages.
At the death of his father in 1996, he became the titular pretender of the Dukedom of Albany, which was removed in 1919 under the Titles Deprivation Acting of 1917.
