Born in Tel Aviv, Gavrieli studied law at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, where she gained a Bachelor. She also studied for a Bachelor in business administration.

During her first term in the Knesset, she served as chairwoman of the committee on the status of women. In 2004, Gavrieli together with Adi Barkan, Israeli fashion photographer and owner Barkan Modeling Agency in Tel Aviv, successfully submitted legislation to Israel"s Parliament requiring all Israeli modeling agencies to use the body mass index (BMI) as a pre-requisite for employment, a first of its kind in the world. In 2006 she used her parliamentary immunity to prevent her father"s house being searched by police during an investigation into illegal gambling and tax evasion.
The Movement for Quality Government requested that the attorney general open a criminal investigation into the issue.
She lost her seat in the March 2006 elections. Gavrieli is married to goalkeeper Liran Strauber.
