Career
Born Svetislav Petrović (Светислав Петровић) in Austria-Hungary into a Serbian family, he entered the film business at the end of World War I. In the 1920s he made several Hollywood silent films for director Rex Ingram, including The Magician, The Garden of Allah and The Three Passions. He starred opposite Ingram"s wife, actress Alice Terry, in all three pictures. To his early work belong Die Dame mit den Sonnenblumen, Homo immanis and Der Stern von Damaskus.
He lived and worked in Berlin after World War I.
With his singing talent, Petrovich made a successful transition to talking pictures.
To his well-known films of this time belong Die Fledermaus, Der Feldherrnhügel, and Die Nacht der Entscheidung.
