He was formerly offensive coordinator for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Prior to being named offensive coordinator for the Roughriders on December 19, 2014, he was the head coach of the Simon Fraser University Clan football team, as well as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the British Columbia Lions. Jacques parted ways with the British Columbia Lions after the 2013 season.
He was formerly the Edmonton Eskimos offensive coordinator in 2007 and played as a slotback between 1983 and 1989 for four different Canadian Football League teams.
Jacques was the head coach of the Université Laval Rouge et Or from 1997 to 2000, winning the first Vanier Cup in school history in 1999. Matt was drafted in the sixth round, 46th overall in the 2010 Canadian Football League Draft by the British Columbia Lions.
