In 1947 Corman finished Stanford University and obtained Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering. Also, in 1950 he was on graduate study at Oxford University, England. In 1998 Roger attained Doctor in Fine Arts degree (honorary) graduating from American Film Institute.
In 1948 Roger was a messenger at Twentieth Century-Fox in Hollywood, California, United States and from 1948 till 1949 Corman held the post of a script reader. Beginning from 1951 to 1952 he worked as a literary agent. It is important to note, that in 1954 Corman co-produced his first film - Highway Dragnet. Also, during the 1960s Corman directed eight lavish gothic horror films based on the stories of Edgar Allan Poe. In 1970 Roger founded New World Pictures and since 1970 to 1983 he was its president.
In 1983 Corman sold New World Pictures and founded Concorde-New Horizons Corporation, film production and distribution company, based in Los Angeles, working as its president since the same year. Moreover, Corman is a founder and president of Roger Corman Productions. Also, he founded and headed The Film Group. What is more, Roger served as a chairperson of board of directors at Wometco Theatres. Moreover, in 1995 Corman held the post of executive producer on Roger Corman Presents.
In 2010 Roger Corman teamed up with Shout! Factory to release new DVD and Blu-ray editions of Corman productions under the name Roger Corman's Cult Classics. The releases have concentrated on 1970 - 1980s films he produced through New World rather than directed. These titles include Rock 'n' Roll High School, Death Race 2000, Galaxy of Terror, Forbidden World and Piranha, with additional titles continuing to be released.
In 1944 Corman was on military service in The United States Navy.
In 1991 Roger was a member of board of directors of Horror Hall of Fame. He is also a long-time member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
On December 26, 1970 Corman married Julie Ann Halloran. They have four children - Catherine Ann, Roger Martin, Brian William and Mary Tessa.
