He played one season as a relief pitcher with the Atlanta Braves in 1999, appearing in five games. In the 2011 movie Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt, Ebert played former Oakland Athletics pitcher Mike Magnante. He plans to continue acting since he was strongly encouraged by Pitt during the making of the movie.
He is currently the Arizona League Reds pitching coach.
