He represented his country on many occasions including several editions of the Tour of Britain. He retired from competition in 1986 following a 26-year career and became national coach for 10 years. After a brief break he returned as logistics manager.
Dailey is also former manager of Kirkby Sports Centre.
He lives in Ruthin, North Wales. Dailey was the logistics coordinator at the Summer Olympics for the third time in 2008, he was responsible for ensuring that all of British Cycling"s kit, scientific equipment, medical back-up and the athletes themselves all arrived safely in Beijing.
Dailey began sending equipment out 3 months earlier, in May, to ensure everything ran smoothly. Dailey was made an Administration Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to sport in the Queen"s New Year Honours list in 2008.
In 2009, he was inducted into the British Cycling Hall of Fame.
Dailey is credited with discovering several important British cyclists, including Chris Froome.
