From 1913-1921 he was entomology officer for Alberta based in Lethbridge. Then in 1922 he founded the University of Alberta"s entomology department. Strickland wrote 60 entomological papers on ecology, life cycles, taxonomy and pest control.
He is best known for his 1945 paper Could the widespread use of DDT. be a disaster? Ent.
