He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1979. He graduated with honors from Conception Seminary College in Conception, Missouri in 1983.
Early life and education
He then attended the American College Seminary at the Catholic University in Leuven, Belgium. He graduated with honors, earning the Pontifical South.T.B. in Theology along with an Master of Arts in Religious Studies in 1986, and a Masters in Moral and Religious Sciences in 1987. Weisenburger was ordained a priest in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Oklahoma City on December 19, 1987.
He also earned a Licentiate of Canon Law degree from Saint Paul University in Ottawa, Canada in 1992.
Prior to being appointed bishop, he was vicar general of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City from 1996 to 2012 and rector of the cathedral from 2002 to 2012. On October 2, 2009, he was appointed a Prelate of Honor to Pope Benedict XVI, with the title reverend monsignor.
