He currently serves as a hockey reporter for Sportsnet. He began his broadcast career for Toronto sports radio station The Fan 590 in 1994 and did play-by-play for Toronto Raptors games on both radio and television and reported on Toronto Blue Jays games in 1998. He did freelance for the London Free Press and the Toronto Star.
Friedman then worked for The Score network, before joining Canadian Broadcasting Company Sports in 2003.
At Canadian Broadcasting Company, Friedman was a reporter for Hockey Night in Canada. The studio host for the final two seasons of the Canadian Football League on Canadian Broadcasting Company and for some Toronto Raptors games.
And participated in the Canadian Broadcasting Company"s Olympic Games coverage. He also continued to appear regularly on The Fan 590 (now Sportsnet 590).
After Rogers Media secured a 12-year exclusive contract for National Hockey League rights, under which Rogers" Sportsnet would produce game broadcasts for both Rogers channels and Canadian Broadcasting Company, Friedman joined Sportsnet full-time and participates in its hockey broadcasts.
