Emanuel began playing with the guitar and piano at the age of six, and joined his father’s Greek band at the age of thirteen.

He graduated from Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio in 1989 with a degree in music, and then relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He co-wrote and produced the Billboard Hot 100 charting singles, "What’s Left of Maine" by Nick Lachey, "Crush" by David Archuleta, "Who Says" by Selena Gomez & the Scene, and "Tonight Tonight" by Hot Chelle Rae. He has also collaborated with Jordin Sparks, Celine Dion, and Backstreet Boys.
