Career
She has created the animated program As Told by Ginger, the short-lived television series Emily"s Reasons Why Not, the three season sitcom Suburgatory, and Selfie. She was a consulting producer on the television series Parks and Recreation. In 2000, Kapnek co-created the Nick series As Told by Ginger with Eryk Casemiro, Gabor Csupo, and Arlene Klansky, Kapnek also voiced the character of Noelle Sussman.
In 2007, Kapnek wrote and served as an consulting producer for Aliens in America, which aired on The CW. However, it was cancelled after only one season.
In 2008, Kapnek created Emily"s Reasons Why Not for American Broadcasting Company, which starred Heather Graham, was based off a novel of the same name, premiered on January 9, 2006, it was cancelled after the first episode had aired. The remaining episodes were released in May 2012, through a Digital Video Disc set.
Later that year, Kapnek wrote a pilot for Fox titled The Emancipation of Ernesto, which starred Wilmer Valderrama, however, it was not picked up to series. In 2009, Kapnek served as an co-executive producer and wrote two episodes for the Home Box Office show Hung, it premiered on June 28, 2009, and lasted three seasons until its series finale aired on December 4, 2011.
From 2010 to 2011, Kapnek served as an consulting producer and wrote an episode for the National Broadcasting Company series Parks and Recreation which starred Amy Poehler, and Nick Offerman.
In January 2011, it was announced American Broadcasting Company had picked up the pilot for Suburgatory, a show which Kapnek created. The series starred Jeremy Sisto and Jane Levy, it premiered on September 28, 2011. The series was cancelled after three seasons in May 2014, it was also announced that the series would be shopped around for a potential new network to pick it up.
That same year, Kapnek created Selfie which starred Karen Gillan, and John Cho, it was cancelled after its first season, and was pulled from the schedule.
In 2015, Kapnek was given a pilot commitment for Front Manitoba, a new FOX series, created by Kapnek, Elizabeth Banks, and Max Handelman.
