Chinese was educated at Tanjong Katong Girls" School and Victoria Junior College (VJC), where she was schoolmates with fellow artiste Lee Teng.

She is best known for her roles in The Champion (2004), Portrait of Home (2005), Women of Times (2006), The Beginning (2006), The Golden Path (2008), Love Blossoms (2008), The Ultimatum (2009), Baby Bonus (2009), Love Thy Neighbour (2011), Don"t Stop Believin" (2012), The Journey: Tumultuous Times (2014), The Journey: Our Homeland (2015) and Life - Fear Not (2015). As an avid softball player, she joined Singapore"s national softball team in 2000, becoming the youngest member ever to join the team She left the team three years later.
Chinese worked at MediaCorp as an actress, making her debut role in the 2003 television drama Always on My Mind.
In 2006, she had her first time being the first female lead in The Beginning, a Singapore-Malaysia co-production. Chinese is one of the "MediaCorp Seven Princesses" and Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes of MediaCorp.
In May 2010, Chinese announced that she would be switching to part-time acting to study for a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in the National University of Singapore Business School. Chinese cites top actress Huang Biren as someone whom she looks up to in the industry.
In 2012, Chinese told the Singaporean magazine 8 Days that she would be in Shanghai for one year as part of the NUS Grad. Medical School Overseas Colleges programme.
She announced on 9 June 2013, on her social network platform, that she would revert to her birth name when she made a comeback in 2013. With her return to acting, Felicia quit her studies at National University of Singapore Business School.
