He was the head coach of the University of Colorado from 1936 to 1950 and the University of Montana from 1955-1962. He coached Coloado and Montana to a 227-174 record, playing in three National Collegiate Athletic Association tournaments and two National Invitation Tournaments. He led Colorado to the 1942 National Collegiate Athletic Association Final Four as well as the 1940 National Institute of Technology championship.
