Career
Beardsworth played for two youth clubs while growing up. He joined Farington Villa of the Preston and District League in 1908 when he was nine. In 1909, he joined Leyland Town of the West Lancashire League.
In 1914, Beardsworth and his family left England to emigrate to the United States.
When he arrived in the United States., he joined the New Bedford Whalers of the Southern New England Soccer League, winning the 1915 and 1917 league championships. In 1917, he moved to Fore River.
The team went to the 1918 National Challenge Cup, losing to Bethlehem Steel F.C. In 1919, he moved to Brooklyn Robins Dry Dock of the National Association Football League. In 1921, he moved to the amateur Booth Mill of the New Bedford Industrial League then played for Saylesville F.C. of the Southern New England League.
