Career
He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1954 and the Padma Vibhushan in 1959. He was famously refused service in a Houston airport restaurant because he was not white, leading John Foster Dulles to conclude that United States segregation was hurting foreign relations. He was son of Sir Lallubhai Shamaldas.
