Career
She has worked with Janet Jackson, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Ne-Yo, and Usher. Galen is best known for being one of Janet Jackson"s dancers, for her Nike campaigns, for being a dancer and choreographer for The LXD (The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers), and for playing Diamond Eye and Pretti Sinclair in recording artist Ne-Yo"s "Beautiful Monster", "Champagne ", and "One in a Million" music videos. Hooks is currently the head choreographer for the hit Nickelodeon show "How To Rock" starring Cymphonique Miller.
She is now expanding beyond dance and choreography into Creative Direction and Producing.
She is also the consulting producer and host of the upcoming DS2DIO show "Masterclass" where she interviews top choreographers like Fatima Robinson, Brian Friedman, Wade Robson, Travis Payne and more. Hooks was a songwriter on recording artist Raistalla"s self-titled album.
Galen wrote "Krazy" and co-wrote "Attention" and "Speedracer". She also has songs with her music group "CAMPFIRE VAUDEVILLE" written by her and sold on iTunes, Spotify and other music platforms.
As a photographer, she has taken pictures of JoiStarr from Kanye West"s Glow in the Dark and Touch the Sky tours and MyBlock Records, Melinda Sullivan from So You Think You Can Dance and Lindsey Blaufarb from Beat Freaks who appeared on the third season of America"s Best Dance Crew.
Hooks is also the Chair of Dancers" Alliance, an organization that improves the rights and working conditions for professional dancers and choreographers, and spearheaded historic victories in union coverage for music videos and tours. She has spoken at conferences for the American Federation of Labor-Congress-Chief Information Officer and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation TV and Radio Artists, among others Hooks attended Pennsylvania State University while traveling the world as a professional dancer and graduated with a Bachelor in Pre Law.
She is of Japanese descent on her mother"s side and Afro-Brazilian descent on her father"s side.
