Career
Doctor Crotty was born in 1769 in Clonakilty, County Cork, and was one of the first students of attend the re-established Irish College in Lisbon, Portugal. He then served on the staff of the college for almost 20 years. In 1811 he returned to Ireland to Cloyne, before being appointed to Maynooth.
In 1833 he was appointed Bishop of Cloyne and Ross, he served until his death on the 3rd of October 1846.
He bequeathed his Library to Saint Patrick"s College, Maynooth on his death. He is buried at the Presentation Convent, Midleton, County Cork.
