Career
He spent most of his career playing for Shelbourne in the League of Ireland. Hannigan had three different spells with Shels as a player from 1961-1966, 1972-1974, and finally in the 1980/81 season. He scored over 50 goals for the Oriel Park side.
Hannigan then signed for Shamrock Rovers in April 1969 and made his debut on the 6th of April.
He then spent fifteen months at Fortuna Koln before coming home to sign for Sligo in February 1971. He scored on his debut on February 28.
In his time at the Showgrounds he played a total of 6 games scoring once. Earned 4 Inter-League caps.
