Tune was educated at Street Paul"s School, Bald Hills and played his junior rugby for Brothers/Teachers North.

He played most of his rugby career on the wing but later switched to outside centre. He went on to play for Global Positioning System Rugby. He played for the Queensland Reds in their inaugural Super 12 season in 1996, making his debut against the Highlanders.
Tune went on to make his test debut in 1996, playing Wales.
He returned to the Reds" lineup and retired after the 2007 season. He was named on the right wing in the Wallaby Team of the Decade.
