During his playing career, he was listed at 6 feet 6 inches tall, and 225 pounds. He played under legendary coach Don Haskins. Lattin later competed in the National Basketball Association and American Basketball Association.
He was a first round draft pick of the San Francisco Warriors, playing for that team for one season before being traded to the Phoenix Suns.
Lattin finished his career with three seasons in the American Bar Association. David Lattin was inducted into the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame and Enshrined (Texas Western) in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007. He has started every game of the 2015-2016 basketball season for the Sooners.
