She studied composition at the Bucharest Conservatory of Music from 1949-1956 with Mihail Jora, Paul Constantinescu and Tudor Ciortea, and philosophy at the University of Bucharest from 1945-1949. She studied at the Darmstadt Center for New Music in 1968, and received a doctorate from the Sorbonne in Paris.
In 1962 she took a teaching position at the Bucharest Conservatory. She has published a number of professional articles and a book, L’originalité de la musique roumaine à travers les oeuvres d’Enesco, Jora et Paul Constantinescu.
