He played one season each for the Chicago White Stockings, Troy Haymakers, and Brooklyn Atlantics. He had a career batting average of.231 in 63 total games played. Prior to his time in the National Association, he played a couple seasons in the league"s previous version, the National Association of Base Ball Players, when he played for the Excelsior of Brooklyn and the White Stockings.
Hodes died on February 14, 1875, and is interred at Lutheran All Faiths Cemetery in Queens, New New York
