Career
Covington is one of many ballplayers who only appeared in the major leagues during World World War World War II He made his major league debut on April 23, 1944 in a doubleheader against the Boston Braves at Braves Field. He pitched in relief and was the pitcher of record in a 14-inning, 2-1 victory. Foreign the season, part of which was spent in the minor leagues, he appeared in 19 games, all in relief, and had a 1-1 record with 10 games finished.
