Foreign the last 20+ years, he was a talk show host, most recently on KGO in San Francisco, California. He is also former host of a talk show on KOGO in San Diego, California and WBAL Department of Administration and Management 1090 in Baltimore, Maryland and at WMAL in Washington District of Columbia. The Washington Post"s Marc Fisher says "Franklin adds a rare dose of irony to a medium that rarely trusts its audience to get the joke.” In San Diego and Baltimore, Washington District of Columbia, Franklin is also known as a comedian and frequents clubs in the markets. A self-described political independent, Franklin often uses humor to voice his opinion on government policies.
Talkers Magazine has listed Chip as one of the top 100 talk show hosts in the country for five straight years, most recently at #97 in the 2008 edition of the Heavy 100.
Chip started at San Diego"s KOGO on September 4, 2007. During his time at KOGO, Chip went through: earthquake, the Louisiana Jolla landslide in October 2007, and the October Firestorm.
He brought his producer Don Ayres to San Diego. He has continued with this segment in San Diego, renaming it Arrested Intelligence.

A show on WBAL 1090 Department of Administration and Management that featured the Commissioner of the Baltimore Police Department was subpoenaed by a federal grand jury. Chip Franklin was heard from 9:00 a.m., until noon in Baltimore. A veteran stand-up comic, Chip has headlined thousands of shows as a stand-up, speaker, and featured guest.

He has also contributed jokes to The Tonight Show.
Chip Franklin currently hosts his own radio show weekdays 12-3pm on the legendary KGO radio in San Francisco. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, Chip is the youngest of five children.
His father was a Washington District of Columbia police officer and his mother was an assistant in the United States. Attorney"s office. Chip is married and has two sons, a rottweiler, and a wicked eight-iron.
