Career
Born at Canterbury, Kent, Dale was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break, making several appearances in first-class and List A cricket. Although born in Kent and having played for the county second XI, it was for Gloucestershire that he made his first-class debut for against Hampshire in the 1984 County Championship, with him making seven further first-class appearances in that season. In his only season of first-class cricket for Gloucestershire, he scored 100 runs with a top-score of 49, in addition to taking 7 wickets at an expensive average of 66.71.
He also made three List A appearances for Gloucestershire in the 1984 John Player Special League.
He later moved back to his home county for the 1986 season, making his full Kent debut against the touring Indians in a first-class match. In what was to be his only season playing for Kent, Dale made just two further first-class appearances and one List A appearance in the John Player Special League.
