Career
He also played briefly for the WHA Minnesota Fighting Saints 1976 before moving to Europe where he was a top scorer in Germany and Switzerland. He retired from hockey after the 1980-1981 season. Before turning professional, Sarner played for the United States national team at the 1972 Winter Olympics and 1972 Ice Hockey World Championships (Pool B tournament) as well as the University of Minnesota men"s ice hockey team
