He completed his primary and high school in Ankara. In 1993 he went to London with a scholarship from the British Council and studied multimedia.
He has been working in media organisations since 1990. In 1992 he began working as a reporter for the 32. Gün news program, presented by one of Turkey"s most acclaimed journalists Mehmet Ali Birand, and worked there for 8 years in various positions including as managing director
He produced and presented a section of the main news report ATV channel called Cuneyt’s Magnifying Glass and he directed the topical debate show Siyaset Meydani.
From 1996, he worked as an international war correspondent at the Lebanese-Israeli border, in Northern Iraq, and Afghanistan where he produced news and special reports. In 1999, he helped found Cable News Network Türk.
In 2003 he observed and reported on the invasion of Iraq as an embedded journalist. Since 2000 he has been producing and presenting the news program which offers current news and analysis.
In 2007 he founded odatv together with Soner Yalçın.
Özdemir soon left after a difference of opinion. In 2008 he launched the news website Dipnot.tv. Following the website, in March 2011 he published the first issue of the weekly popular culture and current affairs magazine Dipnot Tablet for tablet PCs.
Dipnot Tablet magazine is available in Turkish, English and Arabic.
