David Gabai, a mathematician, is the Hughes-Rogers Professor of Mathematics at Princeton University.
Education
David Gabai received his South.B. degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1976 and his Doctor of Philosophy from Princeton in 1980 under the direction of William Thurston. During his Doctor of Philosophy, he obtained foundational results on the foliations of 3-manifolds.
Career
Focused on low-dimensional topology and hyperbolic geometry, he is a leading researcher in those subjects. After positions at Harvard and University of Pennsylvania, he spent most of the years from 1986–2001 at Caltech, and has been at Princeton University since 2001.
