Career
Metchick is Jewish. Beginning as an apprentice with Fulham, Metchick turned professional in 1961. He played in England for Fulham, Leyton Orient, Peterborough United, Queens Park Rangers and Arsenal. At Arsenal he never played a competitive match for the first team but was a stalwart of the reserve side, helping bring up the younger players in the squad.
Metchick then moved to the United States to play in the NASL with the Atlanta Chiefs, the Miami Gatos, and the Atlanta Apollos, before returning to England in 1973 to play with Brentford.
He later played non-league football with Hendon.
