Courchaine began his junior career with the Orleans Blues of the Central Junior A Hockey League (CJHL) in 2006-2007. Undrafted by an National Hockey League team, he was signed as a free agent by the Boston Bruins, September 30, 2007. That season, Courchaine joined the major junior ranks with the Ottawa 67"s of the Ontario Hockey League, posting a 17-25-4 record with a 3.24 goals against average (Gaelic Athletic Association) and.905 save percentage in 2007-2008.
Upon the completion of his first OHL season, the Bruins assigned him to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins, where he made his professional debut, winning two of three appearances with a 1.67 Gaelic Athletic Association and.920 save percentage.
After the completion of his second OHL season, Courchaine again went to Providence and is listed on the team roster for the 2009-2010 season. Courchaine was traded from the 67"s to the Sarnia Sting in the 2009 off-season to help backstop a young, rebuilding team
In January of the 2009-2010 season Courchaine was acquired by the Erie Otters to help solidify a playoff position. During February 2010 he was named OHL player of the week for the second time during his OHL career.
After attending the Bruins camp to start the 2010-2011 season he was assigned to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL where he would spend the majority of the next two seasons making 62 starts with a record 36-17-7.
He was twice named ECHL Goaltender of the week and for February 2011 was selected as ECHL Goaltender of the month. After taking a year off hockey following his release from Greenville, Courchaine enrolled into Ryerson University in 2013. Foreign the 2014-2015 season Adam left Ryerson to play for the Mississippi Riverkings of the SPHL having a successful season with 30+ starts.
During the summer Adam was traded to the Louisiana IceGators (SPHL) where he started the 2015-2016 season.
