Career
He served as the head football coach at Villanova University from 1960 to 1966. He compiled a record of 35–30 and took the Wildcats to two bowl games—the 1961 Sun Bowl and 1962 Liberty Bowl. Bell was a native of New Kensington, Pennsylvania.
He played college football at Villanova from 1935 to 1937 as an education
Three years later he played for one season (1940) for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL) as a halfback.
