Career
An opening bowler and useful lower-order batsman, he played for Auckland from 1926-1927 to 1939-1940, and for Wellington from 1944-1945 to 1946-1947. His one century came for Auckland in the match against Canterbury in 1937-1938, when he was the fourth of Auckland"s century-makers in a score of 590. His best bowling figures were 5 for 50 (after 3 for 19 in the first innings) for North Island against South Island in 1944-1945.
Earlier in the season he had figures of 11.5-9-4-3 for Wellington against Otago.
He also played Rugby union, and refereed the match between New Zealand and Australia in Auckland in 1946.
