Chancellor of the Dar ul-Funun school, he also established the Iranian Ministry of Science in 1855 and he was first minister of Science for its first 22 years. He was also the Minister of Telegraphy Industries and in several occasions, served as head of Persia"s printing office. He is believed to be the first person to translate Isaac Newton"s laws of mechanics into the Persian language.
