He serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bense Enterprises. He began his business career deeply in debt after college. He served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 through 2006.
He was Speaker of the House from 2004 through 2006.
He sits on the Board of Directors of the Gulf Power Company, a subsidiary of Southern Company ( SO. New York Stock Exchange ). He serves on the Board of Directors of Capital City Bank Group ( CCBG: National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation ).
He is a partner in several companies with interests in road building, mechanical contracting, healthcare, insurance, general contracting, golf courses, pavement marking, farming and others He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Florida State University.
