Career
He played college football at the University of Mississippi. Playing for coach John Vaught at Ole Mission, Brown earned three letters (1962-1964) and served as co-captain of the 1964 Rebel team He also earned first team All-America honors from the Associated Press, Time Magazine, and The Sporting News in 1964 and was a first-team All-Securities and Exchange Commission selection in 1963 and 1964.
He was inducted into Ole Mission Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
In 2004, Brown was honored by the Southeastern Conference as an Securities and Exchange Commission football legend. Brown was drafted by the Packers in the third round (38th overall) of the 1965 NFL Draft.
He was also drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the third round (22nd overall) of the 1965 American Football League Draft. Brown had two sons that played at Ole Mission as well, Timothy Brown and Burkes Brown.
He is currently retired in Louisiana.
