Broad is a former President of the Victorian Farmers" Federation, Director of the National Farmers Federation and Director of Australian Made. A small business owner, Andrew operated his wheat and sheep farm for 16 years from the age of 22. The electorate of Mallee covers 32.5% of the state of Victoria and contributes $5.3 billion annually to the Australian economy.
The electorate produces an array of agricultural product.
Dried fruit, citrus and stone fruit, wheat and cereals, wool, sheep, vegetables, vineyards, olive oil, dairy and beef cattle, meat works, mining and flour milling. Andrew has been outspoken in Parliament on a number of issues important to his electorate including small business measures, water policy, primary producer tax concessions, domestic violence, illicit drug abuse, drought policy and foreign aid.
In his role as a Member of Parliament Andrew is a member of the House of Representatives Standing Committee: Environment and the Joint Standing Committee: Treaties, and the group Parliamentarians Against Family Violence. As a coalition politician Andrew is a member of the Coalition Backbench Committee on Agriculture and the Coalition Backbence Committee on Trade and Investment.
