Career
He is of Moroccan origin, but lives in Høje Gladsaxe, a large housing project on the outskirts of Copenhagen. He has released two albums, Alternate det jeg ville have sagt in 2008 and Befri dig selv in 2009. Basim presented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 on home ground in Copenhagen, Denmark with the song "Cliche Love Song".
2008: The X Factor and Alternate det jeg ville have sagt At age of 15, he took part in the 2008 edition of the talent program The X Factor and reached the quarterfinals before being voted out.
After X Factor, Basim released his debut album in 2008 entitled Alternate det jeg ville have sagt (meaning "Everything I would have said"). Foreign the album, he collaborated with Danish X Factor judge Remee and engaged on a tour in the country.
The album reached #8 in the Danish Albums Chart going gold. There were three singles from the album, "Alternate det jeg ville have sagt", "Jeg village" and "Baby, jeg savner dig".
2009: Befri dig selv In October 2009, he released his second album Befri dig selv (in Danish "Free yourself").
The album reached #21 on the Danish Albums Chart and saw release of two singles "Lad ikke solen gå ned" (reaching #15 in the Danish Chart) and title track "Befri dig selv". Basim has also participated in the 2009 edition of Vild medical dans, the Danish edition of Dancing with the Stars, where he danced with Claudia Rex, finishing 9th. 2014–present: Eurovision Song Contest Basim represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.
EBU announced on 17 March Basim would perform 23rd in the running order of the final.
He placed 9th in the final, scoring 74 points. lieutenant was also confirmed that Basim would be the Danish spokesperson at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna.
