Blunden was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium. Having played for the Kent Seconds in the Minor Counties Championship since 1928, Blunden eventually made his first-class debut for the county against the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1931. He made 10 further first-class appearances, the last of which came against the Marylebone Cricket Club in 1933.
In his 11 first-class matches for Kent, he took 18 wickets at an average of 32.55, with best figures of 4/31.
He later played for Durham in the 1938 Minor Counties Championship, playing two matches against Northumberland and Staffordshire. He died in Skinburness, Cumberland on 27 July 1984.
