Jonathan Wilson finished his studies at University of Essex, England, in 1974, obtaining Bachelor of Arts (with honors). In 1976 he graduated from Columbia University and in 1977 from St. Catherine's College. In 1982 Mr. Wilson became a graduate of Hebrew University of Jerusalem, from which he earned his Doctor of Philosophy.
In 1976 Mr. Wilson became a visiting scholar at Columbia University, New York City. Jonathan Wilson was an assistant professor of English at Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts, from 1984 to 1991, associate professor of English between 1991 and 1998, chair of the department of English during 1998-2005 and professor of English since 1998. He served as a Fletcher professor of rhetoric and debate since 2001 and director of center of humanities since 2007 at the same university. He is also known to be a writer and contributor to periodicals, including New Yorker.
