From the Dust Jacket: Robert Louis Stevenson once said, "To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive," This is the philosophy that lies behind Stan Mooneyham's intensely personal look at life in this book. Of his pilgrimage he writes, "It is not a smooth ride down a freeway in a Cadillac with automatic transmission. It is more like my boyhood rides in a sputtering Model-T Ford over the bumpy, rural Mississippi roads of my childhood. . . . I am absolutely certain of fewer things, but of the things that remain, I am more certain than ever before. And those things have to do with life's basic issues-who Jesus is, who I am, the value of other people and God's sovereignty in my life. About those things I shall not be moved. . . . Now I affirm people more and my convictions less. . . ." Dr Stanley Mooneyham has been known world-wide for comforting those who struggle against starvation and deprivation. This collection of thoughtful essays reveals that the author himself is a struggler with even deeper issues-those which can either starve or nourish the soul. An uplifting, optimistic book to savor alone or to share with others, TRAVELING HOPEFULLY offers inspiration, insight and encouragement. It will move you to tears-or lift you to joy as you learn that: transparency is more valuable than role-playing. . . the urge to possess things isn't worth becoming possessed by them. . . it's dangerous to play it safe. . . and love-"even if it tears you to pieces"-is better than aloofness.
